Breaking, Schooling & Training

If you would like your horse to be professionally broken or improve its schooling, or if you feel it may benefit from some specialised training, why not send it to me?

It is important to me that the horses enjoy the work they are doing. I am relaxed but firm in my approach and would rather be patient and persevere than resort to more aggressive training methods. I feel that in this way the horse learns to want to do what the rider is asking of him or her, rather than being whipped into submission, and this encourages horse/rider interaction and builds a relationship based on mutual understanding, loyalty and trust.

Livery Considerations

Depending on your personal needs and preferences I can either take in your horse as livery, or visit you at home.

Bringing your horse to me as livery offers several benefits, particularly when breaking. Through daily work I am able to get a feel for your horse’s character much more quickly, identifying any quirky traits or underlying naughtiness! It also allows me to monitor your horse’s progress on a daily basis and adapt the training accordingly.

In terms of the horse’s learning, I find that the routine of regular and consistent work helps them understand what is being asked of them. Whilst every horse is of course different, I do find that this makes for steady progress.

Understandably a livery away from home will not suit everybody. If you would rather your horse were trained in the more familiar surroundings of your own yard I would be more than happy to travel to you.

In all cases, training will be tailored to suit individual requirements. Owners are welcome to come along any time to see their horse’s progress whilst in livery with me.
